In addition to the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press, regional newspapers serving all of southeast Michigan, the city is served by the Daily Tribune, the Observer & Eccentric, the Troy Beacon, the Troy Times, the Troy-Somerset Gazette, and the Troy Patch. As of the census of 2010, there were 80,980 people, 30,703 households, and 22,443 families residing in the city.
From the census of 2000, the population was spread out with 26.2% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
